| Established in 1935, Springfield is a growing community of over 9,000 residents. Springfield shares Martin Lake with the cities of Callaway and Parker. Martin Lake provides boating, fishing, and swimming recreation for the entire family. Springfield provides boat ramps and floating docks as well as many parks for recreation and leisure activities.
Buddy McLemore Park, named in honor of the late Mayor Buddy McLemore is a major attraction for family activities in Springfield. There is a playground, basketball and tennis courts, football field and concession stand. The Springfield Community Center is also conveniently located on the same grounds.
Next door to City Hall is a walking park dedicated to the memory of Commissioner Henry Brooks.
Springfield is also home to two of the area’s largest employers, Smurfit Stone paper mill and Arizona Chemical Plant.
